It is never too early to start looking for funding resources — even if you are not yet enrolled in a graduate program. Learn more about funding opportunities that may be available on our website.
Each year, graduate students from the University of Arkansas receive NASA, NSF, Fulbright, and other prestigious national awards in addition to travel grants, research training grants, and national research grants administered by individual faculty.
There's a couple of types of funding opportunities available at the University of Arkansas that most graduates who receive funding will take advantage of.
We offer graduate assistantship opportunities. What this does, is it gives you the opportunity to pursue your degree program while working 20 hours a week on campus. It also gives you a tuition waiver. It covers a part of your health insurance fee. And it provides a cost of living stipend.
Fellowships are awards-- often by nomination, but in some cases by application-- that will pay for a student's tuition.
Graduate fellowships are available to doctoral level students who have not yet started their program of study. There are also diversity fellowships that are available. Some students may also be eligible for the Chancellor's Graduate Non-resident Tuition Scholarship. This is a scholarship that reduces a portion of the non-resident tuition for eligible graduate students.
Many international undergraduate students, particularly the new freshmen, may also be qualified for some of the scholarships available to domestic undergraduate students.
Don't be afraid to talk to your program of study. You can also visit the graduate school website and there is extensive funding information available.
